Brown Denim Hybrid Jacks by Marcusstratus Brown Denim Hybrid Jacks by Marcusstratus
This is a refinement of the wool pants I made late last year fav.me/d719wsi Since I can't decide on another name I've come to calling them Hybrid Jacks. So called because they use details of both the SteepleJacks and Genes seen in my gallery.

I used zippers in the fly and cuffs and also put leftover zipper tape to use adorning the pockets. 100% cotton denim and solid brass hardware.

The abrupt transition of the leg silhouette bothers me, but I love the rest of the pattern and all the details.

yes, it's definitely an unusual silhouette, but right now I can't say I would prefer these over my genes, or vice versa. It's a different enough garment that it doesn't replace the other.

Or maybe if they had hook/buttons for stirrups since they have the gaiters built into the pants....

you hand make this stuff yourself right? if so how the heck do you do all those stitches so cleanly?

I use a machine to sew the fabric goods, typically hand sew the leather though.

I see how much does this machine cost? Im trying to get into the world of clothing craft but...im a newb with not much knowledge...^^; people keep telling me I have to have a surger if I want to do the stuff you do.

Hah! And I don't even have a serger. I do all my sewing on a basic single needle sewing machine. I have a second one that will do a zigzag for button holes and the like if I need to. You can find them easily in the $100-200 range and any modern sewing machine is easy-peasy to sew on and it's very common for then to have a variety of stitches available.

I see, that's comforting...I'd been saving for one for a while now and after seeing your jacket: marcusstratus.deviantart.com/a…

I was like...."what does he use?" i'm glad i asked. ^^

by the way, that jacket...how much would it cost to buy one from ya?

This is an example of the machine I use i522.photobucket.com/albums/w3… These old ones are fairly easy to find and if you don't mind a bit of restoration, they can be pretty cheap too. But they do require more maintenance then modern machines and if you're not very mechanically inclined, i wouldn't recommend it.

ah looks like ill be buying a modern one then, as my mechanics are nearly zip zilch nadda.

lol i see you didn't answer my curiosity...^^ fair enough, I noted your not open for commissions...but I thought asking the price wouldn't be to much.
