This bag is the result of years worth of work in an attempt to achieve a realistic antique and weathered look to a bag. Instead of making it and then taking rags or sandpaper or chemicals to give the bag a synthetic antique I have put it through the proper use to give it a genuine antique. They call it "Breakin' it in propa".
But anywho, made back in January 08, this is the same bag that has been featured earlier in my gallery ( [link] ), but now you can see it in its current glory.
100% waterproof, oil tanned leather with solid brass hardware. It is 16" Wide, 12" Tall and 8" Deep. All hand sewn. There is one large compartment that is great for books, binders, computers, clothes, etc. and a narrower one that is also good for the above but also has several pockets. There are 5 pencil/wallet/phone/misc. pockets, 2 smaller pockets for nail clippers, flash drives, etc. and a narrow chopstick pocket on the opposite side. On the outside are two large pockets that can hold a handful or two of markers, a water bottle, fruit, or anything else you can put in them.
It is fastened with 3 straps on front, but when it's only lightly packed or you feel particularly lazy you can slip the two extra straps out of the way and just use the central strap to keep the flap down. The handle is sturdy and comfortable and has a wooden support below it to help the bag keep its shape. It comes with 2 shoulder straps so you can carry it like a backpack or a messenger bag. There are also a plethora of utility dee rings around it so you can position the shoulder straps to be most comfortable. Plus you can hang junk off the unused rings (junk doesn't come with the bag, but chain on lid does!) or use them to attach other bags to it or strap it down when you're on an adventure.
It's amazing to see how this bag has evolved over time, it looks really wonderful now! And the design is fantastic, I really like how the straps can be adjusted in various ways. It all looks extremely practical as well as customizable... Really fantastical...!
Yes, that's the benefit of using genuine materials. Synthetics and look-a-likes break down with age and aren't maintainable. With quality materials an item only gains a patina that shows the nuances of how the individual handles the item.
That is the most perfect bag I have seen - it has everything I would want from a bag! Lots of small pockets, shoulder straps that can be put the way it's most comfortable, many rings to hang stuff on...

You, sir, are AWESOME.
