Please take the time to look through my gallery. From what I've been told, it's quite the sight to see ;) Also, it may be worth your while to go all the way through my abyss of a gallery, who know's what you'll find.

Do you have a picture of your first bag here on dA? Good for starting out And that leather is one of my favorite chrome tanned ones t...

Random from Apparel and Armour Inspiration

These are various works of art that inspire me to make radical clothing... one day I'll be incorporating alot of what I see in this gallery into my designs.

Commissions

Current and complete projects:
:bulletred: Finished a Book Bag as a gift for a dear relative of my wife and I. [link]
:bulletred: Finished a blue and brown bottle holder [link] commissioned by ~YamiAmayana
:bulletred: Finished a leather belt pouch for =Animus-Panthera

Things for me by me are:
:bulletred: Finished working on a couple more wool Vokmans [link] since this is what I prefer to wear while working.
:bulletred: I also want to make a hybrid of my SteepleJacks and Genes so that I can have a good pair of bicycling trousers.
:bulletred: I'm going to be traveling this summer and want to make some leather luggage... We'll see.

Commission FAQ: Give me a note if you have any questions

:bulletblue: Leather belts start at $180 for a simple, plain, functional belt [link] to over $500 for a utility belt with lots of pockets and features and all that other good stuff [link] Belt accessories, like book holders, sheaths, pouches, etc. will be extra ontop of the belt. They will run $20-$60 per attachment/belt accessory.

:bulletblue: Leather bags can vary from a couple hundred to a couple thousand depending on materials, size and complexity. Examples include [link] [link] and [link] An intermediately priced bag would be a messenger bag like this [link] or
[link]
I make each one custom depending on the size and intended use of the bag, whether it's for school, travel, or any other use. If it's for something I haven't done yet, I'll make a new design together we'll decide what will work best.

:bulletblue: Smaller leather goods like wallets, bottle holders [link] etc. range from $40-200 depending on complexity.

:bulletblue: As for clothing commissions, it depends on the complexity and fit of a garment that determines whether or not I'll be able to make it. I can make simple, loose fitting garments like Jacks [link] , but tailored garments like my Genes and vests [link] [link] have to be fit in person. I will only make fitted clothing if you can find your way to Portland, Oregon to be measured in person.
:bulletblue: Small things like hats, belt pouches, and other accessories are possible, but the cost will vary widely according to individual circumstances.

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 30, 2013, 7:06 AM
As Above

Been too long since my last journal entry. *aelthwyn and I are well settled into our new place and I've been pleasantly active in the workshop as of late.

If you would like to commission me, send me a note so I can keep track of it better.

Still Muckn'

After we moved to the new place back in October of '12, there was a period of several months where I had difficulty working in the shop. (by the way, we have a 2 bedroom appartment with a garage for my VW Beetle "Digory". The second bedroom is entirely workshop) Since March however, I have  able to work in the shop on my days off with plenty of motivation. I've posted a few of the items I've been working on already, but there is still more I haven't taken the time to submit to deviantART. I plan to continue to be busy in the workshop for a while as well, working on items for myself and when the opportunity strikes, a commission for someone else. I've also been thinking about making small leather goods like belts and wallets that aren't as expensive as my large bags. These I would sell on some online store as well as find some local boutiques that would sell them. I don't know when that will happen however, as I have a couple more things to do before I can sell small items (such as aquire a small makers stamp)

Oh yeah! And I do have a proper website now. It's through WordPress, so it's kind of like a portfolio blog thing. But we're still working out the text here and there. When it's ready I'll let people know.

Come the summer *aelthwyn and I will be traveling. She's going to visit family in SoCal and I will be headed to Utah to visit family back there. So the Month of June will see little work done... I'm still trying to think of what I can take with me to keep myself busy... maybe I should get back into chainmaile.

Something else that's great about the new place is I have a corner of the living room devoted entirely to my LEGO collection. I have shelves and desks with boxes of organized bricks. I've made a couple large dioramas at this point and don't know if I'll post them onto deviantART or just keep 'em on LEGO only websites like MOCpages. So when I'm not in the craftroom I'm building at my leasure in the LEGO corner... that or playing Front Mission 5 on my PS2. I've had a Playstation 2 since October last year (to give me something to do while my crafts were all packed up) and I got several games with the consol, but I only play my Front Mission 4 and Front Mission 5 games... they're like Final Fantasy, but with Mecha instead of Magick.

Well, that's all folks.
Cheers,
Mark van Weerd

Living in NW United States, I enjoy every aspect of creating things. I think I was first inclined to start crafting because of my artistic interests as well as my families low income. Instead of having the ability to buy the costumes I wanted I had to make them. This is also what interested me in Apparel Design school and is what I got my degree in. I currently have a day job that funds my interests as well as gives me the time to pursue them.

Occasionally I'll do commissions for people, but right now the majority of my work comes from personal interests.

I'm only asking this out of curiosity (not getting at anything), but if you wanted to, could you design cloths which had a mixture of nations?

Indeed, much of the clothing I make is what I consider world-fusion
